US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

NOAA's historical role has been to predict environmental changes, protect life and property, provide decision makers with reliable scientific information, and foster global environmental stewardship. The goals and programs today reflect a commitment to these basic responsibilities. NOAA's mission is to describe and predict changes in the Earth's environment, and to conserve and wisely manage the nation's coastal and marine resources. NOAA's strategy consists of seven interrelated goals for environmental assessment, prediction and stewardship.
