First tidal energy project in the tropics

The Clarence Strait off the Tiwi Islands, Northern Territory of Australia will be home to a tidal energy plant and an energy testing centre, which is expected to generate power by 2015, and reach commercial supply by 2020. This will be the first trial to take place in a tropical environment.
