This study, submitted to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity was, prepared by the Sea Around Us Project of the University of British Columbia, Canada. It presents the results of a Geographic Information Systems-based analysis of distribution patterns of ecosystems and species in marine areas beyond the limits of national jurisdiction, including cold-water coral reefs and seamounts, and major invertebrate and vertebrate groups.
