Contributions on these topics pertaining to NWHI research will be considered. English is the official language of the Symposium.

SATCOMMS in Ocean Science Seminar
: The Association of Marine Scientific Industries (AMSI) is pleased to present a one-day meeting entitled 'Satcomms in Ocean Science' on Wednesday 17th November at Inmarsat, London. This important meeting will present the latest developments in the application of satellites in maritime data communication. The meeting will comprise presentations from leading specialists in the field followed by lunch and a tour of the Inmarsat Control Centre. 'Satcomms in Ocean Science' is open to members and non-members of AMSI but places are limited so early registration is advised.

Barramundi and environmental health
: Scientists from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) are using barramundi to help examine and diagnose the health of Darwin Harbour, in tropical Australia. Barramundi will be tested for signs of contamination from localised urban, industrial and domestic pollution. There are also concerns that estrogenic compounds - from drugs like birth control pills - in sewerage may be having an impact on barramundi reproductive cycles.
