Offshore Oil, Gas and Minerals

The legal regime for offshore oil, gas and minerals, in fact for all non-living marine resources, is built around the rights and duties of coastal States and those of other States that are specified in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). It is important to note that such rights and duties vary according to where in the maritime space the activities relating to offshore oil, gas and minerals are carried out.
