Task Force on Marine Protected Areas and Other Area-based Management Toolse
The UN-Oceans Task Force on Marine Protected Areas and Other Area-based Tools was established in 2007 to strengthen collaboration and coordination among UN organizations dealing with marine protected areas, in particular achieving the WSSD 2012 MPA target, focusing on:
- Promoting and facilitating the application of MPAs;
- Enhancing coordination among UN organizations:
- Developing a mechanism for exchanging information on MPAs among UN and non-UN organizations; and
- Enhancing coordination and coherence in providing reporting inputs to relevant UN processes.
