Joint Meeting of Regional Tuna Fisheries Management Organizations

A joint meeting of the Regional Tuna Management Organizations (RFMO) will be held in Kobe from 22-26 January 2007, reports OPRT in Japan. This is a follow-up to the Japanese government's proposal in the last Committee of Fisheries (COFI) of UN-FAO, which was also supported by COFI. Delegates from 76 countries and territories are expected to discuss issues such as control of excess fishing capacity, elimination of IUU fishing activities, and coordination of tuna management measures
