IMO: Stringent regional discharge requirements less than a year away

Stringent requirements for the discharge of certain ship-generated wastes in two areas designated ""Special Areas"" under the MARPOL Convention1 will take effect in less than a year, following the completion of adequate provision of the necessary shore-side facilities.
