Improvements to Fishery Resources Monitoring System (FIRMS)

The FIRMS partnership released a new service for Fishery Resources State and Trend summaries. Users worldwide can query the State of Fishery Resources using FIRMS newly agreed standards on 'exploitation rate' and 'abundance level' terms across the 500 fact sheets contributed by FIRMS partners. At its 6th Steering Committee meeting, FIRMS agreed on a new fishery module and its underlying metadata standard, which already hosts 20 fact sheets providing various thematic perspectives. This module allows for expanding the monitoring of status and trends to fisheries and their management.
