Newsletter December 2010
News
15 Dec 2010 - 18 Jan 2016
Dear UN Atlas Member,
This month's news reminds the Atlas community of the need for global, regional and national cooperation. This will assist in setting and meeting targets on climate change, help combat illegal fishing and piracy, and standardize scientific analyses and assessments. Recent climate changes talks in Cancun ended with the adoption of decisions that will keep the international process for dealing with the issue moving forward. The FAO called for climate-smart practices by addressing issues of food security and climate change together; the WMO focused on their Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), a foundation for green growth; and the UNDP will administer a trust fund for small island states to move into renewable energy. Read: UN Climate Change Conference delivers balanced package of decisions.
As 2010 comes to a close, the UN Atlas of the Oceans editors thank you for your continued support and interest in the Atlas as we strive to provide you with information relevant to the sustainable development of the oceans.
