Newsletter June 2013
News
07 Jun 2013 - 18 Jan 2016
Dear Atlas Member
Our oceans provide us with valuable food and jobs, power our climate and are an essential part of our planet. Every June 8th we celebrate World Oceans Day - an opportunity to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the international community in connection with the oceans. This year's theme is Oceans & People - see what events are planned. As well, June 5th marks World Environment Day. This year's theme is Think.Eat.Save, an anti-food waste and food loss campaign that encourages you to reduce your foodprint. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, every year 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted.
This month's newsletter features the latest information from our partner agencies and news on a variety of topics, from ocean acidification to marine debris.
