Oceans issues were high on the global agenda this past month during a number of key events:

• World Oceans Day was celebrated around the globe. Focusing on Ocean Sustainability, read the statement from the UN Secretary-General
• Our Ocean Conference, hosted by US Secretary of State John Kerry, brought together some 400 government ministers, scientists, advocates and representatives of leading institutions to discuss challenges facing our oceans
• The 31st Session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries kicked off with messages from the Secretary-General of the IMO and the FAO Director-General
• The IMO celebrated International Day of the Seafarer

In this month's newsletter you will find a variety of news items with information on ocean acidification to maritime training to different oceans-related initiatives.
