Dear UN Atlas Member,
The Third UN Conference on Small Island Developing States has just taken place in Samoa - the largest conference of its kind in the Pacific. With a focus on partnership dialogues, 21 Heads of State and government and 3,500 delegates attended the conference, resulting in nearly 300 partnerships between governments, businesses and civil society organizations from all over the world with the total value of these commitments at over USD $1.9 billion. Read a full overview of the SIDS Conference, including the highlight on 'Oceans, seas and biodiversity'. And to emphasize the big role that SIDS play, this year is also the International Year of Small Island Developing States.
Take some time to explore the variety of ocean news and views in the Atlas this month.
