This year, the Inaugural Concert for the Planet accompanies an hour of low carbon emissions. The concert will be a mass participation, multi-location, simultaneous performance and we're inviting people around the world to play their part in the Global Orchestra. Earth Hour launched in 2007, with 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses participating in the 'lights off' event. Just one year later, Earth Hour became a global phenomenon with over 35 countries participating, and an estimated 50-100 million people.
