The Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP) comes into force!

With the accession of the Republic of South Africa, following Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador and Spain, the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP) has entered on the 1st February 2004. A number of other countries are in the ratification process. South Africa, a country that played a key role in the negotiations leading to the Agreement has many important populations of albatrosses and petrels, including those on the sub-Antarctic Prince Edward Islands.
