World Turtle Day 23 May 2009

The purpose of World Turtle Day, May 23, is to bring attention to and increase knowledge of turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive. The initiative was instigated by American Tortoise Rescue in 2000. World Turtle Day is celebrated worldwide in a variety of ways, from dressing up as turtles and awareness raising events to research and rehabilitation activities.
