Climate refugees: A new challenge for Small Islands Developing States. The consequences of climate change are already creating complexities in terms of human mobility and displacement. Millions of people have and will continue to displace themselves from their homes, leaving their livelihoods behind. The people under these circumstances are called "climate refugees", and are also referred to as environmental refugees or environmental migrants.
