NOAA's National Ocean Service (NOS) produces outreach materials to increase public awareness of NOS programs, projects, and activities. They include brochures, fact sheets and project summaries. They also may be informal educational materials designed to instruct the public on basic science concepts. Reports, journal articles, maps and charts, surveys, assessments, abstracts or conference proceedings, and formal educational products are not treated as outreach materials. (See instead the Publications section of this Web site.) NOS also meets with representatives from industry, academia, nongovernmental organizations, other government agencies, which have an interest in its products and programs. Many outreach materials listed here are available online. Hard copies of those that are not available can be obtained by request. Most listed materials were produced between 1998 and the present.
