International Plan of Action for Reducing Incidental Catch of Seabirds

Following an increased awareness about the incidental catch of seabirds in longline fisheries and its potential negative impacts on seabird populations, the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI, 1997-2001)) developed and adopted the International Plan of Action for reducing incidental catch of seabirds in longline fisheries (IPOA-SEABIRDS)
