Effects of Land-based Activities

Land-based sources of pollution are responsible for most of the contamination of the oceans and affect the most productive areas of the marine environment. The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) sets out specific provisions for the prevention, control and reduction of pollution from land-based activities.
